Team performance begins with individual wellness.
How I can help.
-
Drawing on my past experience in senior management, lived experience in high-stress environments such as post-earthquake Haiti, and my therapeutic training in group dynamics, trauma, and neurobiology, I offer consultation for global companies and organizations on improving staff care practices. I love working with organizations who are trying to do good in the world and want to treat staff well but aren’t sure how to take the first step.

The case for supporting mental health in the workplace
Research has shown that chronic stress and anxiety of managers and staff can have detrimental effects on staff personal wellbeing, as well on work productivity and overall organizational output. Overwhelmed nervous systems do not have access to the executive functioning required to excel at work. Providing staff with information about their brains, stress, and trauma; linking them with providers able to provide more tailored therapeutic support; and offering spaces for staff to connect can all have a markedly positive impact on your bottom line.

Educate.
I provide workshops tailored either to staff or managers on a variety of mental health topics. Workshops include information on neurobiology and concrete, evidence-based tools and skills staff can use to cope. Examples of past workshops provided have included
Mental health and management during times of crisis
Understanding grief in the workplace
Your brain and the COVID-19 crisis: coping with anxiety and uncertainty
Trauma in the workplace (separate workshops for managers and staff)
Workplace burnout: What to look out for in yourself and others, how to cope
-
Connect.
I offer leadership of group discussion sessions (not group therapy) designed to facilitate increased connecting between/among staff. Research has shown that staff who know and feel more connected to one another are more resilient and enjoy more workplace satisfaction. Groups work best if they are “opt-in” rather than mandatory, and can be focused on a specific topic or issue, or can be more general in nature. Examples of groups facilitated include:
Group of managers, processing struggles/supporting one another with managing in stressful times
DE&I group, processing impact of national events on wellbeing
Bereavement group, connecting over shared experience of loss of coworker
Departmental group, processing 2020 election results
Groups for global teams to discuss stress after a crisis

Tailored Solutions to Your Organizational Needs
Human Resource issues can take any number of forms. Performance issues, intrateam conflict, and lack of team cohesion are examples of ways that stress and/or trauma can impact a team. If you need help unsticking complex team dynamics, I offer consultations to provide insight on what might be going on, and next steps to move things forward. I also offer consultation on how to improve the overall package of staff care you provide to staff as an organization.
